Context
The Patrol Police Department, together with the Department of Education and Science in Kyiv, developed the "School Police Officer" model in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On the National Police" and Order No. 2450 of August 22, 2016. The purpose of the model is to increase safety and prevent crime in school communities. The material was prepared and published to explain the mechanism of the program to a wide audience - students, parents, and employees of educational institutions.
LEGAL FRAMEWORK
Law of Ukraine "On the National Police" · Order of the Patrol Police Department No. 2450 dated 08/22/2016.
What the model implies
The Patrol Police Department has assigned a separate school police officer to each secondary educational institution. Officers are present in educational institutions according to schedule and upon request to conduct individual preventive work among students.
-
Support for the school community — students, parents, and school staff — regarding events that occur in schools during school hours
-
Conducting training on legal and security issues
-
Working closely with families and the school to resolve incidents in the best interests of students
-
Other necessary support from the school community as needed
Submission format: the material is written in accessible language for a non-professional audience - without legal jargon, with a direct link to contacts for appeals. This is an example of communication work aimed at explaining a public initiative to the wider community, not just to the professional audience of the sector.
