LET'S CYCLE AT THE BLACK SEA


Cycling tourism is one of the fastest growing tourism markets with a high potential for economic value added development. Cycling also contributes to improved public health and associated savings, reduced crowds, and a “healthier” environment.

According to the European Cycling Federation, cycling brings more than 44 billion euros to the continent every year, which is the result of 2.3 billion cycling trips that have tourism value.

Project name: Let's ride a bike in the Black Sea basin

Program Priority: To jointly promote business and entrepreneurship in the tourism and cultural fields

Specific purpose: Improving the well-being of people in the Black Sea basin regions due to sustainable growth and joint environmental protection through the development of tourism/cultural sectors in cross-border countries

Project duration: 30 months: 01.07.2020-31.12.2022

In accordance with the MLPDA Contract Grant 88703/26.06.2020, the main goal of the project is to improve the well-being of people in the Black Sea basin regions through sustainable growth and joint environmental protection through the development of the tourism/cultural sectors in cross-border countries.

Project assignment:

1.promotion of business and entrepreneurship through a common digital platform;

2. creation of cycling routes for cycling tourism;

3. organization of joint events (trainings and conferences) with the concept of CYCLE-FRIENDLY with the participation of students and teachers.

Project partners:

- Municipality of Sakarya (Turkey/Lead Partner),

- University of Applied Sciences Sakarya (Turkey),

– Shumen University Konstantin Preslavsky (Bulgaria),

- Galati University "DUNAREA DE JOS" (Romania),

-Institute of Market Problems and Economic and Environmental Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,

-International Center for Investment Business Development (Georgia).


From November 23 to 26 and from November 30 to December 3, 2021, training events on the basics of tourism were held in the conference halls of the Grand Otrada Resort (Odesa, French Boulevard, 17a) and the Otrada boutique hotel, during which the following questions were considered:

1. Information about tourism.

- tourism knowledge: provision and presentation of tourism services, tourism economics, tourism culture;

- tourism communication and marketing in the field of tourism;

- communication with tourists, features of intercultural communication; what is needed to market services and meet tourism needs.


2. Main types of tourism.

- Sustainable tourism:

- the impact of tourism on the environment (NPS), measures for the conservation of NPS, interaction "tourist-local community" and the management of these interactions (examples of management, solutions in the field of the physical and social environment in tourism);

- hospitality accommodation Accommodation management details; functional information such as investment, room design, marketing, front office, cleaning, food and drink;


3. Gastronomy.

- details of food and beverage management; menu planning, purchasing, costing and pricing, marketing and sales, presentation, service, etc.;


4. Local cuisines.

Structure, preparation and presentation properties of local cuisines; the introduction of unique cuisines in the locations of the project partners and their innovative transformations to serve tourists;


5. Rest / animation.

Solutions for assessing tourist free time, events, travel, animation, entertainment, etc.


6.Sports/bicycle tourism.


The event was attended by project stakeholders, namely students and employees of Mechnikov ONU, women entrepreneurs and people with disabilities. Each participant received a certificate and promotional materials.

The Joint Operational Program "Black Sea Basin 2014-2020" is funded by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument and the participating countries: Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.
